my apologies

I know it's been way to long, I honestly kind of forgot about this thing. As most of you know John and I have been really busy with moving to Louisiana. But now that we are all settled in I have really been focusing on the wedding................HOLY HEADACHE! Now I see why people elope! No, I'm only kidding I hope the day is more than I ever dreamed :) I'll just be very happy when it's here and I don't have anymore decisions to make. Just today I.....met with the church singer, practiced my hairdo with Lauren, picked up earrings and bracelet, stamped and finished up invites, met with a plant lady, and got my fake bouquet for bridal pics tomorrow. Oh what a day. And tomorrow will be even more insane. I have bridal pics at 2 and my nose is starting to peel from the wicked sunburn I got on Monday(all for nothing bc John is the only one who caught a fish worth talking about)
Enough about me. I hope everyone's travel plans are going ok. I apologize if we haven't been doing our part......after all I don't really know what "my part" is. I've never gotten married before ;) Make sure you give John or I a call with any questions!
Can't wait to see everyone from out of town!

Yes, I know I haven't posted in a long time. So let's see what's going on in the wedding planning world.....
I'm still trying to order the invitations I want.....if I can't do it by next week I'm going to have to pick different ones.
We picked up our wedding bands and I'm so excited. I love mine-of course! But I actually like the way John's looks on him too! When he first tried it on I thought he looked silly but I've changed my mind.
I go next weekend for my first dress fitting. Hopefully everything fits and I get to take it home.
My mom made an appointment with the florist to see what he has to offer. I'm so grateful for how much she is doing. It's so hard to do it from so far away.
Still trying to find musicians for the ceremony, but my sister has someone in mind.
I'm still adding things to the registry but just to let everyone know we are registered at Target and Macy's.
I think that's all for now.....

The dress is mine :)

Just wanted to announce that I've bought my dress!!!!! This was so fun to do, but a little stressful. Overall I'm happy with my choice. Also got the bridesmaids dresses picked out. I was able to find the color I want in a style I like. Which is really good news because it wasn't very easy to find. I hope everything looks great together. Now I'm just trying to get John into the tux shop to get his stuff situated. He doesn't seem to really be into the whole fashion aspect of the wedding. haha
So it's past the 6 month mark and going by fast. Before I know it I'll be walking down the isle to John....oh I just can't wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!


Also wanted to add that a few people have mentioned flying into New Orleans and spending a night there. If you've never been to NOLA I think it's a great idea! Especially if you aren't bringing kids, you should spend a night on Bourbon! Just be sure to make it to the wedding! If you are bringing kids there is a great zoo and aquarium. Also make sure you stop by Cafe Du Monde for delicious beignets. (I have no idea how to spell that word!) And if it's still the way it was last time I went....there are quite a bit of homeless people, so sorry in advance lol. It's still worth it though! I'm hoping John and I get a chance to go after the wedding.

Save the Date

Save the date's are finally here! Although if you haven't gotten the magnet you probably don't even know this page exists. I'm pretty sure I'm writing to myself at this point! haha
Anyway, my parents and sister and nephews(aka my 2 of 4 fav. kids in the world) are coming in next week so we can buy my dress. I'm getting a little anxious about that part. It's such a huge decision and I really want it to be amazing! Too bad I don't have a personal designer. But I'm really excited to see them and I know Carson is excited to "come AT new york" Gosh I love that kid! Well that's about all in the world of wedding planning.
Oh and the photographer's booked. Thanks to my mom....she's the greatest! It feels great to put a check on my list!

travel planning info

Hey everyone! I'm setting this up with hopes that it will help to answer some questions. I know most of you don't live near us and will be wondering what's going on.
So first things first: the BIG date is October 17, 2009.
For those of you coming in from out of town here are some things to know....
The airport nearest to the wedding is Lafayette, LA ( it's a really small airport...only 3 gates) but when I fly home I fly here and prices aren't any worse than bigger airports. But in case you want to shop around Baton Rouge is about an hour away and New Orleans is about 2-2.5 hours away.
The ceremony will be in Maurice, LA.
The reception will be in Abbeville, LA. The 2 towns are about 10 minutes away from each other.
As for hotels- I recommend staying in Lafayette(South side because Maurice and Abbeville are both south) There is a Holiday Inn on Ambassador Caffery that seems like the closest to Maurice. There are a couple in Abbeville...however, I DO NOT recommend them in fact I'm saying now...don't do it! haha
Lafayette is a decent size city with a reasonable amount of stuff to do. Maurice and Abbeville are both small with not much to do at all.
